Generally
speaking, the lower the gloss level the more forgiving the floor
will be to the daily wear of foot traffic. We recommend floors
with medium to low gloss finishes for high activity rooms. The
thickness of the wearlayer affects wear performance. The thicker
the wearlayer, the more resistant the floor will be against wear.
A floor with a thick wearlayer is recommended for rooms with high
traffic patterns, such as kitchens. No other product feature influences
wear performance more than the wearlayer. Urethane wearlayer offers
the best performance against wear and staining, especially asphalt
tracking, and it will not scuff. Vinyl wearlayer offers good performance
against wear and staining. Although it may occasionally scuff,
it cleans very easily. The thickness of the floor determines many
of its performance characteristics.
Thicker
vinyl floors provide:
- More
indentation resistance
- More
cushioning and comfort under foot
- More
noise dampening
- More
insulation
